We are Article 15 Right to Science, a non-profit research centre bringing together science, technology, and human rights, for the benefit of all.
A research centre working to realise the ‘right to science’ through interdisciplinary approaches to research
Technological developments and scientific innovations now permeate every aspect of our lives and are increasingly raising new challenges and opportunities to our fundamental human rights. We take interdisciplinary approaches to researching important questions questions at the intersection of science and technology, and the realisation of human rights, to develop our right to science.
We also create opportunities for early scholars facing social disadvantages through participation in our research assistantship programme and events to further our mission. By providing opportunities to these future researchers, we are contributing to combating issues of representation and diversity in research fields, particularly science and technology.
We were founded as a non-profit to make this important work accessible to all members of the public and to act independently of potential corporate or individual interests. We will ensure all research we conduct is available on open-source publications and not hidden behind a paywall.
Our Approaches
The work of Article 15 Right to Science revolutionises the approach to accessible and impactful research
Mission
To use science and technology to aid in the protection and realisation of human rights.
We take interdisciplinary approaches to research at every stage harnessing the power of diversity of thought, knowledge, and experience in science, technology, and human rights to answer the most pressing issues of our time. We exist to realise the human right to science through research, collaboration and open source outputs and the inclusion of all in the development and research of science and technology.
Vision
We believe science and technology has immense power to aid in the protection and realisation of human rights, and accountability for violations. As technology and products of innovation will continue to shape the world, we believe there is incredible potential for these innovations in human rights. Although, this potential can only be fully realised when the barriers to participation and contribution to research are broken down. Through our work, we will help bring science and technology into human rights and further realise the right to science for all.
To create a world where science and technology are integrated in human rights and all people have the opportunity to contribute to its development.
